Santa Barbara or Santa Ynez or was it Los Olivos?

Well this post is a little late on the race coverage front but better late then never. The third round of the NMBS series was two weekends ago and the team faired well. The German (Ben) was going to make his big debutt butt he broke his tail bone during the Gila stage race and didn't notice until a few weeks later.

First off the travel went well aside from the early morning wake up so we made it in early to Santa Barbara with enought day light left to make it to the venue and pre-ride the course. We soon found out that although posted on the web site there was not a pro loop so we were looking at doing three long loops. With the weather forcast looking HOT for race day it was going to be a death march, luckily the organizers opted to shorten the race to 2 1/4 laps still equaling a death march. When Race day came around it was a brisk 104 degrees. Knowing the race would be long and hot Chad and i started off slow and it paid off considering the two of us passed 5-10 guys each on the last lap placing Chad in 30th and me in 13th a best for both of us. After the race Chad was welcomed officially into the Pro ranks by having to take his first doping test.

Onto Sunday the big short track, to sum it up it was once again extremely HOT and dusty making it the hardest short track the two of us have ever done. In the end the two of us placed in 20th and 29th....sweet. After this weekend Chad is ranked within the top 50 in the overall standings and some how I am ranked 8th overall in the series for the XC standings.

All in all it was another great weekend for Team 3D we would like to thank our sponsors for helping make the travel and accomidations possible..
